Roland Juno 106

Roland Juno 106

This synth is so easy to use and get decent sounds out of, from deep basses to soft pads/strings, it's very versatile and it always 'sits' well in a track. I often use the pitch bender for changing the VCF cut off which can add automated movement to sounds. When put into Mono mode you can get that mad 'hoover' dance sound out of it as well as a wide range of other lead sounds, it does sound big with all of its 6 voices stacked like that and the chorus effect on.

I must admit I did get one of these after reading about how many of my favourite artists at the time had one. It seemed like anyone who was 'anyone' was using one. I thought there must be something special about it!

It has 128-patch memory and pretty good MIDI for its time. As well as storing patches on a computer, it can send out SysEx messages from each slider so you can store your live edits to a sequencer and play them back, tidy!
