Roland SH-1000

Roland SH-1000

I managed to get hold of this by chance; it was going to get skipped and a mate managed to salvage it for me! I was amazed to find it actually still worked when I got it and after a bit of a clean up it was in surprisingly good nick for its age. It looks like an old home organ with the coloured selector switches and the presets are nothing to write home about but you can create your own sounds on it and are quite useable.

It was the first synth Roland produced in the mid '70's and is monophonic. I must admit it is more of a nostalgia/collector piece than a 'go to for inspiration' type synth.

It doesn't have any CV/gate inputs which means it has to be played live (God forbid!) and recorded. I have used this as the lead synth in the 'chorus' section of my Redlight In Daylight track if you wish to here it in action.
