Roland SH-101

Roland SH-101

This is a great little synth, so easy to use and understand. It has a very fast envelope, which means it is excellent for punchy bass sounds and leads. I have used it on many occasions for bass duties and riff/melody sounds. It really is a classic house/acid/techno synth that can be relied upon to produce decent dance music sounds.

It has an on-board sequencer and arpeggiator that can be externally clocked. This can sound pretty cool when synced to your track using something like the Kenton Pro-4.
The LFO can also be externally clocked when set to 'random', and when its applied to the filter it can produce a whole manner of synchronised bubbling noise!

There was a modulation grip available for it that allowed you to wear it around your neck like a guitar. I've never envisaged myself prancing round on stage with one though!
