equipment - detail
I got this and the TR909 within a couple of months of each other, both for the same reasons - they are simply classic beatboxes that have defined house/dance music. I was fed up of using static samples and wanted the real thing in my tracks, having these things bouncing along in your tracks really does put a smile on your face!
As a fan of early electro, getting one of these was well cool, I could actually knock out the same beats that were used in those original electro/hip hip tracks that I use to listen & breakdance to years ago.
The sounds are instantly recognisable if you have been (or are) into certain types of music and the machine itself is easy enough to program. When I'm using it I'll program the beats then use the Sync24 input to sync it up with my sequencer and then record the individual instruments. This allows a greater freedom when mixing down and it also means I can add automated FX to the sounds, which is when it really starts coming to life.
