Sequential Circuits Pro-One
Bit of a monster mono-synth this one. It can produce some excellent basses and leads and the modulation section allows you to create all sorts of mad sounds and effects. It has a very fat, 'bottom heavy' sound to it and sometimes needs toning down in a mix for it to sit right.
Mine is one of the later models without the wooden end cheeks and has the membrane keyboard, although I do use the CV/gate inputs to play this synth from a MIDI keyboard (via the Pro-4 converter). I also have the Filter CV input hooked up for external control.
Unlike its 'older brother', the Prophet 5, the Pro-One has no patch memories. This isn't really too big a deal as it's very easy to use and can always be relied upon for producing something special with the least amount of effort.
I have used this on a few tracks and it can be heard at the end of the Rockin' On Top track playing the 'Sync Bass' type sound.
