Tascam DA-30 mkII DAT recorder

Tascam DA-30 mkII DAT recorder

Most of my final mixes were recorded using this DAT machine, up until I started using the MOTU 828mkII for final mix downs. It doesn't colour the sound in any way and does the job it's designed for very well. This was bought long before I was using a computer for audio. At one stage, everything was recorded using this and then sent to the sampler for chopping up and triggering.

I have it hooked up to the mixers main balanced outputs so anything from the desk can be recorded. The Akai sampler's digital ins/out are connected using the AES/EBU jacks, this is so DAT backups can be made from whatever's stored in the sampler's memory. The S/PDIF digital ins/outs are hooked up to the MOTU 828mkII to get digital audio to and from the computer with no loss.

It could really do with a service, the eject mechanism's a bit dodgy, sometimes it just won't give you your tapes back! But for the amount of time it's used now I'm not sure whether it's worth the expense.
